We met on Sunday May 20 at the Quarry Hill Community Hall to farewell the Batch 2 Indonesian students and to enjoy our annual games afternoon. Five Batch 2 supervisors newly arrived from Indonesia were additional guests, as were Nick Van Gent and Noemi Cummings, representatives of BRECC (Bendigo Regional Ethnic Communities Council) Nick and Noemi presented Etty with a certificate recognising our part in BRECC's first prize award in the Easter procession. After the usual delicious Indonesian food, augmented by members this month to provide adequately for our guests, we were divided into teams and enthusiastically played quoits, darts, skittles and various other games organised by George Wood. The competition was fierce, but Nita's team fought off all competitors to take the first prize. Congratulations! Our thanks go to those who put in extra effort to provide food, to George Wood for organising the games, to Helen Bruinier as scorer and to all who contributed to making the day so successful. Our best wishes go with the Batch 2 students as they settle back into Indonesai life. |
