June Meeting

The June meeting was on Saturday June 25th, at the home of Jenny and Phil Trebilcock.

This month we had two activities to stretch our brains and exercise our chuckle muscles.

Each member had been invited to come dressed as the letter G (either in Indonesian or English.) So from the time the first guests arrived we were taxing our brains searching for a suitable word to describe each. We had gypsies and governors, a garbo, a gorilla, a greenie, a gift, a gangster and his girl, a golfer (not hard to pick that one, Pak Des!), a grey nomad, George (Inventive, Pak!) gadis, genap, gambar, gigi kelinci and more. What an array it was!

Helen Bruinier added to the evening's G theme by supplying each of us with a list of fifty descriptions of things all beginning with the letter G. Do you know the patron saint of horses? Or the name for a two wheeled horse-drawn cart? No? Most of us didn't, either!(Answers: George, gig)

After the pen-and-paper quiz members puzzled again over the various costumes, which were then identified.

Congratulations to The Gangster and his Girl (alias John and Dianne Hughes) for winning best costume.

Afterwards Marthin Nanere took out his guitar and led singing both Indonesian and English songs.

It was particularly good to meet Liana Bolitho, Clayton's wife, here at last after a long wait in Indonesia for official permission to join her husband. Welcome Liana and best wishes for a long and happy life here.

Thank you Jenny and Phil for your hospitality and thanks to all members who participated so willingly to make the night a particularly successful one.
