The July meeting was at Liana and Clayton Bolitho's home, on Saturday July 22nd. We had an extra hostess in Liana's mother, Ibu Suparmi, who recently returned with Liana from Indonesia and will be staying here for three months. What a cold welcome our weather has given her! We hope that in spite of the weather she enjoys her holiday here. Naturally we enjoyed the usual delicious meal. What a variety of Indonesian food! Then we moved on to the night's activity: travel experiences Unfortunately a number of our recent BAIK travellers were not at the meeting. But those who were told their stories. The Lerks had returned from their holiday in Malaysia, so James told us some of his and Etty’s experiences. Kuala Lumpur must not have been as appealing as they reported, because Etty was in a great hurry to leave for Penang. (a whole day too soon!) Rini and Rara Febriyanto told us about their holiday in sunny Queensland. They obviously enjoyed themselves. We were also impressed by the driving marathon. Samsul Widodo, one of the students here doing his Masters at La Trobe University, reported on his visit home to Jakarta to collect data. Samsul and family will be returning to Indonesia permanently at the end of August. Our best wishes go with them. Our thanks go to: hosts Liana and Clayton for their hospitality, to those who narrated their experiences and to all who contributed to make the evening so enjoyable. |
