History talks / displays/ demonstrations for schools and other venues British sailors and marines from 1788 - (First Fleet period) & men, women and children convicts Soldiers and sailors of the Napoleonic Wars Gold Rush miners and soldiers at Eureka Stockade at Ballarat in 1854 Police and Bushrangers from the Ned Kelly era of 1880 Soldiers of the Volunteer Militia periods [1860-1890s] Nurses and Soldiers of the Boer War [1899-1902] Victorian Sailors and Naval Brigade in the China Boxer Rebellion of 1900 WW11 Artillery There are Street threatre portrayals of patent medicine men, card sharps, pedders, ladies of the night, circuit magistrates, undertakers, travelling side show entertainers, women's temperance league -just to name a few. The Society has five artillery pieces, a 6 pr muzzle loading gun which is horse drawn and modelled on a British gun of 1859 and two WWII 25prs, one of which is fully restored and operable, the other requires more restoration. There are two other guns, a 2pr mountain gun and a 12/15pr field gun, an original Victorian Field Artillery gun of 1885, which are currently being restored. |
