Application to Council by the developer for Amendment to Development Plan Overlay

The developer has applied to Moreland City Council to amend the Development Plan for Hoffman Brickworks to allow more residential development within the State Registered "heritage core". Amendments requested include: demolition of the Gatehouse, construction of two 4-storey residential buildings and an underground car park between the two kilns.

A community consultation meeting will be held at:

6 pm Tuesday 18 October
Council Chamber
Moreland Civic Centre
90 Bell Street Coburg

Telephone (Urban Planning Branch): 9240 2494

For further details see below the copy of the public notice as published on page 25 of the Moreland Leader, 10 October 2005.

Our understanding is that a report will go to Council in late November. At that meeting Council will have to decide whether to (a) support the amendment (b) refuse the amendment.

Save the Brickworks urges you to defend the remaining heritage fabric against this encroachment.

Please make your views known to Council by attending the community consultation meeting and/or by written response to the planning application.
