BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY
Michael commenced his working career in retail management prior to entering education and training. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University Of Wollongong in New South Wales and has undertaken postgraduate work at Macquarie, Melbourne and Victoria Universities and vocational education and training at Moreland Adult Education Association Inc, MBG Education and NMIT. He was awarded the Centenary Medal for services to local community education and training. Over more than thirty years he has worked in universities, teachers, technical and agricultural colleges, adult community education centres, for student organisations and at an employer association and spent a period with the NSW Ministry of Education and the Victorian Department of Education and Training. He has been an active participant in community development and is currently supporting fundraising for new crime prevention strategies. He has formerly been the Treasurer of the Footscray Community Arts Centre, a project champion for the Djerriwarrh Employment and Education Services and Patron of the University of the Third Age, Melton Inc, a member of the University of Wollongong Alumni and Friends groups, the Victoria University Alumni and Foundation and the Board of Directors of the Lowther Hall Anglican Grammar School, and the Western Metropolitan and the Northern Metropolitan Regional Councils of Adult Community and Further Education. Formerly the Director, External Affairs and the Head, Melton Campus he was until 2003 Director (dean), Student Affairs and the Chair of the St Albans Campus Committee (which was the external advisory group to the Vice-Chancellor) for Victoria University. His portfolio of responsibilities ranged from public relations, marketing and communications, international relations, the development and accreditation of courses, recruitment, selection, admission and enrolment of students, the services to support the student experience through to graduation including health and well being, childcare and sport and recreation and the ongoing involvement of graduates in the University through Alumni. Michael has managed staff groups in excess of 200 persons and managed budgets of more than $15 millions. Michael recently completed a four year term as Director of the Meadow Heights Learning Shop Inc. He is a partner and Director of the private RTO, MBG Education Pty Ltd and as Director of his own consultancy business Leadership Innovations undertakes projects from time to time. As past President of the Australasian Association of Registered Training Organisations, past President of the Association of Development and Alumni Professionals in Education, Victoria/Tasmania & past President of the Australian University Alumni Council and the Shire of Melton Education Board Michael has a strong and continuing commitment to the professional development of his colleagues. He continues to passionately promote the development of adult learning environments in community and institutional settings. |
