The Great Southern Rail Trail Inc.
The Great Southern Rail Trail is a walking, cycling and horse riding trail in beautiful South Gippsland near Wilsons Promontory National Park!
South Gippsland is located 120kms south-east of Melbourne in Victoria at the southernmost tip of the Australian mainland.
Currently we have 46 kilometers of high quality trail open and another 3 k usable because of Bridges that are unsuitable for trail use.
The Bridges at Koonwarra are byepassed by using the Highway Shoulder.
[Vicroads will develop part of the old Highway for the trail when funding is recieved for the bye pass of the bends in the same vacinity.
We are waiting for an announcement on Federal Funding from DOTARS to get the remainder of the funds to build a new Bridge at Meeniyan across the Tarwin River.
