Looking forward to give this engine bay a good clean up!

Ford produced Model T engines in Canada starting in 1913. These engies were for use by Commonwealth countries.

Instead of the engine cast with a clearly visible 'Made in USA' they are cast with 'Made in Canada'.

Canadian engine numbers begin with a C prefix, while USA engines have a number only.

Model T engines were 20 horsepower, in-line 4 cylinder with a Bore of 3¾ and Stroke of 4 inches with a displacement of 2896 cc (177 cubic inches).

My speedster is fitted with a 16 valve engine designed by Robert M Roof, Chief Engineer at Laurel Motors Coporation, located in Anderson Indiana.

Roof designed a number of racing and improved performance engines and parts for Model T's, this engine being designated 'Model A'.

Born in 1882 in New Castle, Indiana, Roof became a machinist apprentice at the age of 17 and a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers in 1919. His career spanned five decades, primarily spent designing and producing Speed Equipment. From 1911 to 1949, Roof was granted twelve US Patents; eight were Model T speed items.

As the Chief Engineer for Laurel Motors, Roof not only designed the Laurel Speedster, but also the famous Roof Racing Overheads. Roof Type A 16-valve heads owned the dirt tracks in the teens.
