He died 01 Feb 1928 in Taradale, Victoria.
He was the son of Levi Jordan and Susannah Vance.
He married Elizabeth Ann Light Abt. 1892 in Kyneton, Victoria.

Elizabeth Ann Light, born 1868 in Kyneton, Victoria;
She died Abt. 1952 in Maidstone, Victoria.
She was the daughter of John Light and Emma Goddard. (***see page on John Light)

Harold Vernon Jordan, born Apr 1890 in North Carlton, Victoria; died 01 May 1915 Gallipoli, Turkey. (see notes below)
Arthur James Jordan, born Mar 1894 in Carlton Victoria; died 1968 in Heidelberg Victoria. (see notes below)
Violet Amelia Jordan, born Abt. 1897; died 1982 in Victoria.

Unit: 14th Battalion - a wholly Victorian battalion
Date of Death: 1 May 1915
Place of Death: Courtney's Post, Dardanelles, Turkey
Cause of Death: Killed in action - exact details unknown

According to his application, he lists his occupation as 'miner'.

According to The Commonwealth War Graves Commission, Private Jordan, died on 1 May 1915 and is commemorated at Courtney's and Steel's Post Cemetery. His name is also recorded at The Australian War Memorial Roll of Honour courtyard on Panel no 73.

Courtney's Post
Courtney's Post was the centre post of three - Quinn's, Courtney's and Steele's - that occupied precarious, but critical, positions along the lip of Monash Valley, in the heights above ANZAC Cove. Monash Valley ran right into the heart of the ANZAC position and continued on down to the beach at ANZAC Cove.

The post was named after Lt Col Richard Courtney, commander of the 14th Battalion, which had occupied the position early on 27 April 1915 - about a day after the ANZAC Gallipoli landings.

22nd INF AIF - 4th Field Company

Disembarked Melbourne 8 May 1915 on the HMAT Ulysses - 7 days after the death of his brother at Galipolli - probably unaware of that fact.

Appears to have suffered mumps throughout his service. See letter on file regarding MM
15 March 1917 promoted to Lance Corporal.
14 April 1917 - transferred to Sapper by request.

Awarded the Military Medal for conspicious service on the Western Front 1918.

Returned to Australia in February 1919 on the 'Kashmir'. Dishcharged 29 June 1919.

Shot in the head AND LIVED at Gallipoli and then continues to serve until killed 3 months to the day before the war ended.
His service records have a number of letters written by Ann Light (Robinson) to the War Dept.
He also appears on the war memorial at Kyneton.

He was my 1st cousin 3 times removed and the grandson of John Light and Emma Goddard. He was the cousin of Harold and Arthur Jordan (above) the 2nd cousin of Stanley Hankinson (also killed in WW1) and George Stratton (killed in Boeor War (see next page).
