Founded 2001 Incorporated 2002
Need for a bonsai club- residents of the central area had to travel to for advice and workshops. The closest clubs Ballarat and Bendigo both more than a 40 mile drive
Statement of purpose
…. to foster interest in bonsai in the Central Goldfields area around Castlemaine…..
Choosing a name.
It was decided to use a name that included all the areas around Castlemaine.

2001
Inaugural meeting and first annual general meeting. In Table Tennis Pavilion, Camp Reserve Castlemaine 20/ 10/ 01
Attendees were from the local area and four from Bendigo. Six were members of the Bendigo bonsai club. As the club was small it was decided that all financial members would form the committee.

A bi monthly newsletter was posted to members
An exhibition Nov 01 on the 3rd and 4th Exhibition Room TAFE in Mostyn St

2002
Moved to the more central Ray Bradfield rooms
Display with Newstead Garden Club.
Two club digs one to Harcourt the other in the Chewton area

New executive as three of Bendigo Bonsai group no longer were to attend
In order to get to know members it was decided to hold meetings at member’s homes.

Newsletters. At first the club payed for setting up, editing and posting the bi monthly issues, from 2003 the secretary produced a monthly newsletter and most copies are emailed,
Attendance at meetings has been around a twelve members plus visitors.

Three members are also members of Bendigo Bonsai Club and two are members at Ballarat Bonsai Club .

Usual Meeting Format is -Demonstration, Workshop and discussion advice on member’s trees.
