The Friends of Waurn Ponds Creek inc. is an environmental initiative, to preserve the amenity of a largely suburban waterway and its flood plain.

Waurn Ponds Creek rises at Mt. Moriac, flows east for 23 km. and joins the Barwon River at Belmont Common.

It has a long history of Aboriginal occupation and was the first creek settled by Europeans anywhere in Victoria.

Friends activities include native seed collection, propagation and planting, assisting with water quality surveys, bird species counts and other measures to assess and assist the health of our stream and its environment.

Members of the Friends group include local service groups, businesses, schools, Barrabool Hills Landcare, City of Greater Geelong and Corangamite Catchment Management Authority and in particular interested members of the public and users of the surrounding parklands.
