This page is devoted to some of my less 'scholarly' diversions, as well as work in progress: Mostly my reflections on film. |

Does Philosophy Meet Film in Plato's Cave, Or at the Pharmacy? Reflections on Memento. A paper I wrote in response to Christopher Nolan's film, Memento. It was rejected as a refereed article by Senses of Cinema because it didn't reference scholars like Stanley Cavell. I never got around to whipping it into shape.
Another philosophy film. Cathy McDonald presented a piece for the La Trobe philosophy postgrads on the bio-ethical implications of the film Gattaca. My contribution is an experiment in the application of Lacanian psychoanalysis.
Making Something out of Nothing: Nietzsche and Lacan on Reading Philosophy A paper I presented at last year's ASCP conference in Brisbane. I might get around to writing it up properly one of these days.
A poem I wrote in 2002.
The Eternal Sunshine and Eternal Recurrence: The interval between Memory and Forgetting I presented this recently to the La Trobe Postgraduates' Colloquium, after a screening of the Kaufman and Gondry film, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
A paper presented at a screening of Hitchcock's Rear Window.
'Do We Have the Right to Mourn Derrida?' A paper presented at 'Remembering Derrida,' a forum held in order to celebrate the life of Derrida, 25th November 2004, Melbourne.
