Issue 1 Its our Very First Newsletter!! Dear Members, Welcome to our Very First Newsletter. Firstly, I would also like to sincerely Thank John Howe on behalf of the members for his input over the past 14 years as President. In that time he has been a very devoted President, however, he felt the need to relax a little and pass on his role. He continues to be a valuable member of the Committee as Vice President and I hope he continues for many years to follow as he has been a huge asset to the EVTC. My role as the new President is to continue to see our club grow further through the development of juniors coming up through the ranks and to make our club be known as a “Family friendly club”. We also give a warm welcome to David and Kylie Starling as our club coaches. I believe with their help we can achieve the above. We thank them for their help and expertise in the running of our recent family social day and twilight comp. Happy hitting…..Michael Schroder. Competition News & Ladder Updates It is with great excitement I would like to inform you that we have had a fantastic response to the TWILIGHT SOCIAL NIGHT. Starting at 5.30pm on Monday 8th November 9 teams of 4 will be enjoying the Social side of Tennis. The Format of the Twilight Tennis will be first to 6 games. To keep the night interesting and to keep the wait between sets to a minimum there will be “sudden death deuce,” – (No Advantage) and there are no Tie-Breaks. There will be a Sausage Sizzle each Monday night and we WELCOME players to bring their partners and children. All Saturday Afternoon Teams are having a good time, no matter their place on the ladder. It is great to see that 2B(4) have not lost as yet and hope they continue their winning streak. 2B(3) have had a win and some close matches. 2A are running hot…..and cold losing on Saturday by a mere 4 games. Bad luck guys – Good luck for the following weeks Section 1, although struggling with shortage of woman players are enjoying themselves, they are currently bottom of the ladder, however, that does not indicate their lack of playing ability as they have won 2 matches so far. Positive Feedback from an opposition team indicated that it was , “Great to see Echuca Village with a competitive section 1 side, not to mention the fantastic facilities and the peaceful setting. Saturday Competition Ladder is as follows:- Section 1 – 7th Section 2A – 11th Section 2B(3) – 8th 2B(4) - 3rd Mid Week Ladies are competing 2 days a week and in addition a Ladies Social Friday will begin on the 12th at 9.30 for 4 weeks leading up to Christmas.
