The East Gippsland Historical Society has a well equipped office situated at the museum site in Bairnsdale and is staffed by members familiar with local history.
There are extensive archives kept on the area which include:

Births, deaths & marriages.

Large photograph collection of over 40,000 photos which are in the process of being catalogued.

Past newspapers on microfilm.
|
|
·
|
Records on buildings and events of significance.

Visitors are welcome to use the research facilities if they wish and these are open for use to members.
There are also a range of publications available for purchase and members are on hand to assist with the selection of books. There is also an extensive reference library where books may be researched at the office.

Our Society is staffed totally by volunteers. Assistance is provided with research, copies of documents, maps and photographs and information on items of historical significance in East Gippsland.
