The Royal Historical Society of Victoria The Royal Historical Society of Victoria was formed in 1909 and is a community organisation committed to collecting, researching and sharing an understanding of the history of Victoria.
With the support of a large number of volunteers, the RHSV provides a full program of activities (eg lectures, seminars, excursions and exhibitions) for the benefit of members and the general public. The Society publishes a monthly newsletter, a reviewed journal and books of historical interest.

Public Record Office Victoria is the archives of the State Government of Victoria. PROV hold records from the beginnings of the colonial administration of Victoria in the mid-1830s to today.
Association of Eastern Historical Societies Established in 1966, the Association of Eastern Historical Societies (AEHS) is a network of 16 historical societies in the region east of Melbourne. As well as holding meetings and an annual conference AEHS provides information on current practice for preserving and promoting local history and is a valuable network for members.

townships and districts. These volunteer organisations
play an important role in preserving the unique heritage
of the Shire.
Yarra Plenty Regional Library Genealogy and Local History The Genealogy and Local History section at the Yarra Plenty Regional Library website includes a link to the Eltham Digitisation Project containing a range of early Eltham photos, a link to Eltham's Chronology project and links to other locally relevant sites. There is also a link to the Eltham : then and now Webquest published by the Eltham East Primary School that looks at Eltham' history, buildings and unique environment.
PictureVictoria is a Victorian Local History Project, funded from Arts Victoria, through the Statewide Public Library Development Grants. This project aims to increase the accessibility of the local history collections held by Victorian public libraries, in particular through the development of a digitisation strategy. Yarra Plenty Regional Library in partnership with the Eltham District Historical Society have contributed to this with photos from the Eltham Digitisation Project accessible here.
The Eltham Society United Kingdom The motto of the Eltham Society, which was founded in 1965, is Preserving the past, Conserving the present, Protecting the future and it keeps a watching brief on the physical environment of Eltham and considers ways in which it might be improved.
Eltham is approximately 10 miles south-east of London and the southernmost town in the Greenwich Borough. While Eltham has grown into an urban town it still retains many open green spaces and therefore sits happily between town and country.
