Eastern Region Support for People with a Disability
A group for people with a disability with high support needs who wish to explore ways on how to get better value out of existing attendant care.
Bringing together a small group of people who use support services and live in the same neighbourhood would enable the same permanent carers to work with them in a more flexible and efficient way. This would improve the quality of existing support people with disabilities receive to enable a better life. People with a disability and service providers in the areas of Knox, Whitehorse and Maroondah are looking at a model of shared coordination between two service providers. People with a disability, service providers, family and friends are encouraged to provide thoughts and ideas on this topic.
A regular get together at the Myer Cafe in Eastland, Ringwood, at 2pm on the second Monday of the month is an opportunity for people to share ideas and have a chat.
Action for Community Living, a disability advocacy organisation, is working with a small group of people with disabilities who live in the outer eastern suburbs and their service providers. Contact Cath McNamara on 9489 2999 or on c.mcnamara@advocacyhouse.org for further information.
