A range of beetle species are needed to achieve all-year dung burial, as different species are active during different seasons of the year.

48 colonies - 7 species

* Bubas bison: 20 colonies
* Euoniticellus africanus: 1 colony
* Euoniticellus intermedius: 2 colonies
* Geotrupes spiniger: 18 colonies
* Onitis alexis: 1 colony
* Onthophagus binodis: 3 colonies
* Onthophagus gazella: 3 colonies

SPECIES ALREADY IN THE AREA:

* Euoniticellus fulvus
* Onthophagus australis (native beetle)
* Onthophagus taurus

SPECIES TO BE RELEASED:

* Euoniticellus pallipes
* Onitis aygulus
* Onitis caffer

CHALLENGES:

The 2006 drought severely restricted the supply of dung beetles.
