Scouts is a great place to meet and interact with other people on an informal basis. Scouts have the opportunity to work towards the Pioneer Scout Award (Green Adventurer Cord) and achieve this by working through levels of badges each with increasing difficulty. The culmination of this is a ceremony at the Hawthorn town Hall each year where the states recipients have a official ceremony to congratulate them on their efforts.
Scouts perticipate in many different event each year including Stradbroke Cup, a competition camp based around campsite setup, cleanliness and completion of activities; Cohen Shield, another competition weekend based around the participation in activities; and Gilweroo which runs along the same lines as Cohen.
Scouts are also given the opportunity to attend the Australian Jamboree, a gathering of Scouts from around Australia and the surrounding region. This 10 day camp is held in a different state each time and runs once every three years. The next is to be held in Victoria in 2007.
