YOUR ASSERTIVE RIGHTS

As a human being you have the right to:

 Be treated with respect
 Say No to requests
 Ask for what you want
 Change your mind
 Take time to slowdown and think
 Set your own goals
 Make your own decisions
 Have your own opinions
 Express your own feelings
 Make mistakes
 Live your own life the way you want

IF WE COULD SHRINK THE EARTH

If we could shrink the earth’s population to a village of precisely 100 people, with all the existing human ratios remaining the same, it would look something like the following:-
There would be:-
57 Asians
21 Europeans
14 from the Western Hemisphere, both north and south
8 Africans

52 would be female
48 would be male
70 would be non-white
30 would be white

70 would be non-Christian
30 would be Christian

89 would be heterosexual
11 would be homosexual

6 people would possess 59% of the entire world’s wealth and all 6 would
from the United States

80 would live in substandard housing
70 would be unable to read
50 would suffer from malnutrition
1 would be near death
1 would be near birth
1 (yes only 1) would have a college education
1 would own a computer

When one considers our world from such a compressed perspective, the need for acceptance, understanding and education becomes glaringly apparent.

It highlights the need to cater for the disadvantaged in our society.

Some Thoughts Worth Considering
1. Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.
2. Marry someone you love to talk to. As you get older, their conversational skills will be as important as any other.
3. Don't believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep all you want.
4. When you say, 'I love you', mean it.
5. When you say, 'I'm sorry', look the person in the eye.
6. Be engaged at least six months before you get married.
7. Believe in love at first sight.
8. Never laugh at anyone's dreams. People who don't have dreams don't have much.
9. Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it's the only way to live life completely.
10. In disagreements, fight fairly. No name-calling.
11. Don't judge people by their relatives or their looks.
12. Talk slowly but think quickly.
13. When someone asks you a question you don't want to answer, smile and ask, 'Why do you want to know?'
14. Remember that great love and great achievements involve great risk.
15. When you lose, don't lose the lesson.
16. Remember the three R's: Respect for self; Respect for others; and Responsibility for all your actions.
17. Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
18. When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.
19. Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your voice.
20. Spend some time alone. Remember that is better to be alone than in bad company.
And last but not least, stay away from religious zealots (and from any other zealots).

Noam Chomsky is the most prominent U.S. political dissident, yet still alive in 2002. Good alternative readings.
