The present Rescue Boat

The Club began in 1960 with a group of fishermen who were also keen divers.

The boat ramp was built in 1961 with financial assistance from the Shire Council and a dive compressor was built where the current club house stands. Shell also sponsored the club and provided a bowser at the site.

In the early seventies, the members organised races with catamarans. This attracted other sailors and the Club was off and running .. er … sailing..

In 1978 Alcoa donated the first rescue boat. Radio station 3AK provided the next rescue boat in 1986. The present boat was bought with a grant from the State Boating Council in 1998.
