The City of Heidelberg Bowling Club, established in 1913, has
more than 150 members, both male and female, from 14 years old
upwards. The Club has two synthetic greens. The Clubhouse includes locker rooms, kitchen, communal area and licensed bar.
Currently (2007/2008) the club has three RVBA (Royal Victorian Bowls Association) Pennant Sides, one in each of Division 3 Section 3, Division 5 Section 3 and Division 7 Section 4 and two VLBA (Victorian Ladies Bowls Association) Pennant Sides, one in Division B1 Section 3 and one in Division B2 Section 3. As well as pennant competition, City of Heidelberg Bowling Club has an all year round social program, including social bowls, trips, dinners and barbeques. Social bowls are regularly played on Monday, Wednesday night, Public Holidays and Saturdays (outside of the pennant season). These social games are open to players from other clubs.
On every Monday two games of three bowl triples are played. There are prizes for winning team, runners up and best game. The Wednesday night social game is designed to attract those players who work and/or study during the week and of course those fanatics for whom bowling has become a must! It also provides a great opportunity for newer players to hone their skills and gain a broad knowledge of the sport without the pressure of pennant games. It also attracts bowlers from other clubs where night bowling does not occur. The game is very relaxed and a good time is enjoyed by all.
