Obituary - Mrs Janet Hall Kilmore Free Press

We regret to record the death of a very old identity of the district in the preson of Mrs Janet Hall, which occurred at her daughter's (Mrs W. Maher) residence in Kilmore on Tuesday of last week. The deceased, who was 87 years of age, had been ill for several months but her passing came as a shock to her relatives and many friends.

The late Janet Hall was the second eldest daughter of the late Alexander and Janet McKenzie, farmers of Willowmavin in the early days. The deceased was born and educated at Willowmavin and had spent the whole of her lifetime in the Kilmore district. Her husband, the late William Hall, predeceased her 11 years ago. For many years the deceased was an ardent worker for the Presbyterian Church and her passing will be regretted by a wide circle of friends in the town and district.

The deceased is survived by a family of two sons, John (Kilmore) and Leslie (Kilmore), and two daughters, Florence (Mrs Fitzgerald, Sydney) and Olive (Mrs W. Maher, Kilmore), 14 grandchildren and 4 greatgrandchildren; a daughter (Beatrice) predeceased her.

After a service at the residence the interment was made at the Kilmore General Cemetery and the funeral was largely attended. Rev G.W. Finch officiated at the service and at the graveside.

The casket bearers were Messrs J. Cook, A. McKenzie, F. Bowers, and J. McDonald. Pallbearers, Messrs. M. McKenzie, W. Maher, M. Bowers, E. McDonald, A. McDonald, T. Chapman, W. McKenzie and D. Hagan. Flowerbearers, Mrs D. McDonald, Miss Fitzgerald, Miss Maher and Mrs L. Hall.

Funeral arrangements were carried out by Diggle & Maher, Kilmore.
