Central Highlands Region
More than fifty heritage organisations operate in the Central Highlands region, centered on Ballarat. Interests of the societies include local history, family history and genealogy, the history of railways, trams, paddle steamers, astronomy, aviation and military matters. Many of the societies are affiliated with the Royal Historical Society of Victoria.
