CHEF SITE - GET IT RIGHT!
This group was established for discussion and information about the redevelopment of what is left of the former Chef Factory Site, which located at 21 - 35 Hope Street Brunswick.

The original planning applications were withdrawn after the eastern side of the site was subdivided (Nov 2001) and the Southern Building subdivided (Aug 2002).

The Master Plan (with revisions to include the Craig & Seeley Office building) was adopted by the Moreland Council on 24 March 2003 and has subsequently been approved by the Minister.

The former Craig & Seeley office building and the Retort House building have been listed on the State Register by Heritage Victoria.
Work has been done on the Hope St edge of the site, with the refurbishment of the Office building and the Retort House.

Two new planning applications were lodged in January 2006, one for a FIVE level - 110 bed aged care facility and another for a FOUR level - 41 occupancy mixed use building. Both applications include a reduction in the car parking requirements. This presents a significant departure from the IPO approved in 2003.

The Urban Planning Committee Meeting on 22 March 06 approved the aged care facility but reduced the other development to 3 levels but with car parking maintained.

Another application has been lodged - stay tuned. Get active and get involved in the campaign to fight the proposed overdevelopment of the site.
