It just makes cents!
Take a look at the Japanese population. According to the Agricultural Council of America Education Foundation, the average Japanese family spends about eighteen percent of its income on food. The typical American spends about half that. Americans also eat more inexpensive (less healthy) fast and processed foods than the Japanese. Maybe that has something to do with the fact that cancer, heart disease, and other chronic illnesses are much more common in the United States than in Japan.
