BRETT REYNOLDS INTRODUCE PAGE

This is me!!!

Hello there. My name is Brett Reynolds and welcome to my introduce page about me. Let me tell you some things about myself. I have a problem with communicating verbally because I have Cerebral Palsy, which I have had since birth in 1971. It affects the muscles in my face so it is hard to speak. Actually it affects all my muscles but it’s only my face that speaks. I have trouble with my balance and muscle control. As I cannot use my hands to do what other people take for granted so I use a head pointer to do what I need to be done such as, type on my lightwriter for communication or use my computer, turn pages of a newspaper, do paintings or drawings, switch on things like TV, DVD and Video players, turn the pages of my book which I’m reading at that time ETC. I can’t stand so I use an electric wheelchair to move around though my daily activities.

Seven years ago I did a course called Certificate in Work Education at Tafe in 1996 that introduced me to painting, in 2000, which bighting up my life to the world of art. I have been doing a Visual Arts Diploma at Swinburne University. The course is usually over 2 years. I do everything with my head pointer and not my hands, so obviously things take longer. I started doing this Diploma in 2000 and now I have finally finished completing the course in 2005. I will be a working artist, hopefully, having some art exhibitions in the near future.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Through my studies in art I have learned to use my dreams as ideas for my paintings. I can express myself in my paintings, in ways that I can’t with my voice. I paint my feelings and ideas.

Inclusive Art Studio Space
Glen Park Community Centre has successfully received funding to relocate the Bayswater Uniting Church Hall to its North Bayswater centre. The hall will predominantly be used for the “arts”.
I had a dream of being able to access an art studio space to share with like-minded artists to paint and exhibit art work within doing my Visual Art Diploma at Swinburne University. We are in the initial stages of discussing practicalities of the “Inclusive Art Studio Space”.
We would love to have your input and creative ideas about how it will work. Alone we can achieve a little, together we can achieve amazing things. Also we want Artists, Writers and Poets to come together, to share ideas with each other while you work on your masterpiece on a weekly basis for one or two days for a couple of hours at Glen Park Community Centre. Please feel free to contact me through my e/mail address or Robyn Murray, the Manager at Glen Park Community Center, Address: 30 Glen Park Rd, Bayswater 3153, Phone Number 9294 7525, Fax: 9720 9549 or you can e/mail her on manager@glenparkcc.com.au about any information on the “Inclusive Art Studio Space”.
Anyone who wants to be on the Inclusive Art Studio Space Committee please contact us as well as we would love to get your input in the world of Art.

From 2006 I went for a position on the Committee of Management of VICNORD as the Eastern suburbs representative. I like being on the committee because I like to keep up to date in my region with sports and recreation in my area.
VICNORD assists disabled people in gaining access to Sport Recreation and the Arts. We work with other agencies and are funded by the State Government.
If you want any more information go to their site http://www.advocacyhouse.org/vicnord/about.html

So now I hope you can understand a bit more about me, after reading this introduction about me.

Regards
Brett Reynolds
