The Banyule and Nillumbik Youth Services Network (BNYSN) is the major connecting body for youth services in the municipalities of Banyule and Nillumbik, Victoria. It covers a breadth of issues affecting young people, and includes workers in a range of fields.
The Network is an ongoing initiative towards improved service provision for young people across the two municipalities. Its purpose includes:
· Identification of youth needs and priorities;
· Service planning and development on a geographical needs basis to foster successful outcomes for young people;
· Comprehensive information, resource sharing and development opportunities for professionals to enhance quality services to young people; and
· Proactive lobbying at local, regional, state and national levels to improve outcomes for young people.
The Network is a vehicle that offers choice to meet a diversity of needs. It encourages open access for workers and agencies to participate in a variety of ways that taps into their expertise and knowledge. BNYSN is owned and driven by its membership. Its success always depends on active participation by professionals across the breadth of issues affecting young people.
In practice, a BNYSN Executive leads the Network, comprising workers from key areas in the field. It operates in partnership with the membership and the community.
