Bendigo def Murray Assn 10 Points 44 shots up Campaspe def Goulburn 8 Points 11 shots up Round 2 Bendigo def Goulburn 8 Points 13 shots up Campaspe def Murray 10 Points 30 shots up Round 3 Bendigo tied Campaspe 6 Points Goulburn def Murray 9 points 30 shots up Final Total Bendigo 24 Points +57 Campaspe 24 Points + 41 Goulburn 17 Points +6 Murray 7 Points -104 Undefeated teams Phil Godkin (Bendigo) +49 Adam McIntyre (Campaspe) +24 R Smith (Goulburn) +23 M Liverton (Campaspe) +18 Bendigo & Campaspe went into the last Round both with 18 points and only 16 shots seperating them. This meant that for Campaspe had to (a) win 4 or more of the 6 games (b) win 3 games and tie one © win 3 games and win overall by 9 shots. It all boiled down to the close game between Russell Simmonds (Bendigo) and Mick Humphries (Campaspe) as Campaspe were already assured of 3 wins by McIntyre, Liverton & Thorn and and only needed a tie by Mick Humphries to assure them of taking home the Norm Knopp Shield. With 2 ends to go Simmonds led by 2 shots. Simmonds scored singles on both of those ends to win his game 16-12 and so retain the shield for the 2009-10 season. |
