Friends of Awakenings
An exciting community celebration of ability held every October in Horsham in Western Victoria. The festival is committed to improving access to the arts for people of all abilities.The first Awakenings Festival was in October 1996; a three-hour performance involving 40 participants with and without disabilities. In 2002, the festival attracted over 600 participants and performers with a volunteer base of 350. Its reputation as a key event in the disability arts sector is now recognised nationally and internationally.
