Buchanan leads the way in 3k
It was the young brigade that filled the places in the latest running of Athletics Bendigo's Tuesday night distance series. A warm night saw many athletes run great times for the 3000m. Bendigo University 's Andy Buchanan took line honours in 9 minutes and 57 seconds ahead of training partner Kaine Leech. Buchanan's clubmate and the in-form Luke Gregory was third and ran a personal best time for 3000m in 10.19. Experienced campaigners Greg Hilson (10.21) and Mike Bieleny (10.41) were next across the line. Bendigo YMCA Harrier's athlete Jo Keely was first female to finish ahead of clubmate Wendy Stibbe who went very close to running a personal best. Young Bendigo University athlete Ned Slater continued his steady improvement this summer to run a personal best time of 11 minutes 23 seconds.
Next week will be a 5000m race starting at 7.00pm, new athletes are most welcome and are encouraged to register by 6.45pm
