RE:                   Glen Allan Memorial Road Race on Saturday 19th July 2008

                       

The ‘RETIREINVEST’ sponsored Glen Allan Memorial race day was a busy day for Athletics Bendigo with 94 athletes aged from 5 to in their 70’s competing.  It displayed the attitude ‘Athletics is for Everyone’. Athletes from South Bendigo, Bendigo YMCA Harriers, Eaglehawk, Bendigo University and invitational runners took part in the 15km feature race, 3km and 1km.

 

The Bendigo YMCA Harriers John Maher and Meredith Cooke were the respective winners of the men’s and women’s Glen Allan Memorial sash. Adam Fleming was the first runner across the line but ran in the invitational section.

The 3km race was won Bendigo YMCA Harriers Leon Keely who had just returned from the World Junior Orienteering Championships in Sweden. Under 14 athlete Madeline Everly of the Eaglehawk club was first women across the line.

The 1km Under 12’s race was won Bendigo YMCA Harriers Tom Houlden. The girl’s race was won by Demi Goodall-Hoffman from the South Bendigo club.
