The Oasis Stargazers, amateur astronomy club of Mildura welcomes visitors to our Viewing and Activities nights, which are held throughout the year.

Public Viewing Nights

COME ALONG, BRING A FRIEND AND ENJOY THE NIGHT SKY AS WE SHARE OUR TELESCOPES AND KNOWLEDGE.

Viewing Nights are held at the Sunraysia Gliding Club from 7.30 pm (6.30 pm April to October) on specific nights.

The club members share their telescopes and binoculars and anyone with their own equipment is also encouraged to bring their own. However, you do not need to own a telescope or binoculars to come along and join in the viewing. Members will give visitors a guided tour across the sky, pointing out various deep sky objects and naked eye viewing to the observers.

Cost of the night is $2.00 donation. Drinks are $1.00 each.

Special Viewing Nights
The club members do cater for community groups, schools and private groups with special viewing nights. These are ideally held at the club grounds, but can be arranged at other venues. Viewing nights can be casual or structured, with notes supplied for study or information.

Due to adverse weather conditions where condensation can cause problems for telescopes, viewing nights in the winter months are limited. Please contact the club for further details.

Cost is a flat rate of $2.00 per person for the night.

Special viewing nights are by appointment and should be booked as early as possible, with a contingency date booked in case of inclement viewing conditions.

Activity Nights
These nights are held on the first Thursday of each month at MADEC. They commence at 7.30 pm and topics vary from constellations to planets and sometimes guest speakers. Each night, club magazines and books are made available for members and guests to read and browse.

Cost is $2.00, which includes a cup of tea, coffee or cold drink.

New Members
New members will be guided through the first few months of their membership by another member, assisting them wherever possible as they settle in to the club.
