The Australian Chinese Medicine Education and Research Council Ltd (ACMERC) is a non-profit company comprised of academics, researchers and prominent practitioners in the field of Chinese Medicine in Australia. ACMERC was founded in 1995 following an Australia-wide independent selection process. Its twelve directors are elected for three year terms while other members may be nominated from time to time to assist the council in its affairs.
The council is an advisory body on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) education, research and best practice. The council's primary function is to provide expertise and co-ordination of academic development of TCM in Australia. It liaises with the profession, the government and related health bodies on matters relevant to TCM education and training, and act as a source of expertise on TCM available to government agencies, professional associations, TCM practitioners and the public.
