A Webcam is a small digital camera attached to a computer that can upload (send) images to the web (via FTP). E.g. a camera mounted on your PC that sends images every 20 seconds to your webpage, so people can view you "live". As well as sending a series of static shots, Webcams can also stream live video, e.g. as a webcast, but this chews up more bandwidth. Software is needed to install a webcam on your computer, e.g. Chillcam. You can view some webcam images here |
