The second round of funding of a $3.5 million program to help Victorian community groups get online was announced today by the Minister for Information and Communication Technology, Marsha Thomson.
The program - My Connected Community - provides community groups with the training and support they need to set up a website and communicate online.
"The My Connected Community program helps Victorians to get online, stay in touch and build Internet skills and experience" Ms Thomson said.
"More than ever, the Internet is part of our everyday life, and the Bracks Government is committed to helping all community members to benefit from getting online."
"The second round of My Connected Community funding will provide community organisations with up to $50,000 over two years to establish support programs and online projects."
"My Connected Community has already helped more than 400 community groups to get online since it was launched last year."
Ms Thomson has invited all community organisations to apply for funding, particularly those supporting hard to reach Victorians including people from non-English speaking or Indigenous backgrounds, people with disabilities and low income earners.
She said My Connected Community was one of several programs under the Government's Connecting Victoria strategy, which aims to deliver the benefits of technology to all Victorians.
Applications for funding close at 5pm on 28 March 2002.
