- identify you
- personalise your experience
- ensure that you, and only you, can access your groups and data
It enables you to:
- see which communities you are currently a member of
- enter any of your communities and communicate with other members online
- join new communities
- create or edit your own Homepage at mc²
- access all the features of My Office
- access free mc² Webmail: My Mail
The login process is not only a requirement of using mc², it is a safeguard to verify who you are, and protects your privacy. You can login as an anonymous Guest, but this only gives you access to very limited features. See Guest Login for details.

Your login is made up of a 4 - 8 character Login Name and a 4 - 10 character password. You create these when you register.
Activation
Unless you are applying for mc² Webmail,
you will also need a valid email address to complete the registration process.
Before you can login for the first time,
you must follow the link in the confirmation EMAIL we send you.

If you did not get an email after registration, maybe you didn't enter your email address correctly? Try again.
If you have entered your correct email address, ensure the activation email hasn't been put in your
Spam, Junk or Bulk folder. This sometimes happens by default, e.g. with Hotmail.
Why the confirmation email? This is to check:
- that you entered your email address correctly
- to verify that you are the legitimate owner of that address
- to confirm that you wish to join this community
- to ensure that nobody else signs you up without your knowledge & approval
Make sure you can receive email OK at the address you provide!
- You must enter your email address correctly and IN FULL,
e.g. yourname@hotmail.com
or yourname@vicnet.net.au
not yourname@hotmail.com.au - there is no Australian Hotmail!
and not just yourname, but your full email address
- If you don't have an email address yet, you can get a free email address.
- If you can't remember your email address, ring the Vicnet Help Desk for free support,
on 8664 7001 or 1800 629 835.
- Once you have logged in, you can change your email address at any time by following the My Profile link at the top of every page. More details on how to change your email address
- Once created, you can't change your Login Name, unless you delete your mc² account entirely, and start again.
Contact support if you need help with this.
- If you are unsure or forget them, we can email your login details to you
- Your password authenticates that you are, indeed, who you say you are. Don't tell anyone your password. This protects you from unauthorised use of mc² by anyone using your email address to attempt access. Thus it also protects your group and ensures Members Only access, if that is what your community has chosen. See Security: Password for more details
- You can create your own password when registering. Use 4 - 10 letters and numbers [no spaces]. Your password is case sensitive, so don't leave "Caps Lock" on, or enter in ALL CAPITALS.
- Once you have logged in, you can change your password at any time by following the My Profile link at the top of every page.
- If you have forgotten your password, we can remind you of it.
Still can't Login?
Once you have registered and followed the link in the email we send you, you must then login every time you visit the mc² site. If you have problems with your login, check the following:
- Ensure you do not have Caps Lock set on your keyboard - login details are case sensitive - do not type ALL IN CAPITALS!
- If you have not registered your email and password with mc² yet, please click on the Register NOW! link.
- If you have not yet activated your account, please do
so by following the link in the activation notice sent to the email address you specified.
