• Vicnet - Victoria's community information portal

  "Empowering all Victorians in the information age with the capabilities to freely publish, share and find online information and to participate in virtual communities both locally and globally"

  Vicnet is a Division of the State Library of Victoria. Vicnet aims to strengthen Victorian communities by delivering information, communication technologies, training and support services. Vicnet also provides community internet services to Victorian not-for-profit organisations.

• My Connected Community  (mc²)

  mc² is a virtual meeting place where communities interact online to form a living web. mc² helps connect people regardless of language, location, background, age, ability or resources. mc² is an initiative of the Victorian Government's Connecting Communities policy. Funded by the Victorian Government and coordinated by Vicnet, the main objective of mc² is to encourage community groups located in Victoria (Australia) to create their own online communities. To achieve this, mc² offers participating groups a variety of free, easy to use Web-based services which they can use to communicate with existing members & like-minded communities across the world. • Skills.net Roadshow

  The Skills.net Roadshow is an integral part of the Victorian Government's Connecting Communities: the second wave. The Skills.net Roadshow trainers utilise laptops and/or local training venues to deliver the training to people who wouldn't normally have access to the Internet. The Roadshow website has a number of Fact Sheets which list links to a variety of useful sites, on topics such as: Sport, Genealogy, Health, Seniors etc.

• Gippsland Community Training (GCT)
  

  Established as a joint initiative of Vicnet and Networking The Nation to support communities and their residents to get the most out of the Internet and related Information Technologies. We offer training and support for those just getting started through to people who are ready to start publishing on the Net.

• MyLanguage
  

  As a way of enriching Australia's linguistic and cultural cyberspace, seven State and Territory Libraries have created a national portal for multicultural Australians, where you can search and find information on the Internet in nearly 60 languages. See also: Languages Other Than English (LOTE)

• Open Road
  

  Open Road contains links to information in many languages around the world. The Open Road directory is a community resource providing a starting point for surfing web pages in different languages. It was designed as a resource for public libraries in Victoria, Australia, but is open to use by anyone with internet access. Open Road - MCL-net Reference resources This page provides a series of links to English language resources that provide information for basic reference queries on countries, language and culture. This resource, combined with the MCL-net's resources page, is intended as a preliminary attempt to address some of the issues related to LOTE reference services in public libraries.

• Virtual Library
  

  From here you can search for a Library, an online catalog, Community Info Database, Hot Topics, Open Road, Infonet etc. Also links to Gulliver - a collection of databases that has thousands of full-text journals, books, newspapers and pictures.

  
  
  
• i@ - Public Internet Access Terminal Locations in Victoria
  

  Search for public Internet access near you! Victorians can now locate their closest Internet access point or learn how to use the World Wide Web thanks to the i@ Website developed by the Victorian Government. • Information Technology Support for Kindergartens
  

  Project to establish IT infrastructure in most Victorian Kindergartens that will: Assist teachers in the development and exchange of learning materials Contribute to the professional development of kindergarten teachers and assistants and enhance their access to research in relation to child development; Establish an IT infrastructure that will enhance the management of kindergartens and reduce the workload on management committees; and Contribute to the sustainability of kindergartens by providing for the better recording of school records including budgets and finance plans.
