When a group is first created, the new Mailing List feature isn't visible in the group by default. The group owner/moderator needs to turn it on, or activate it. Find out how on the Mailing List Help page. This page also outlines the differences between the Forum and Mailing List.
If available for your group, you can join the Mailing List by ticking the
checkbox on the My Communities page. Be sure to observe the Code of Conduct, especially the section on Email
