Channel Operators

What is a Channel Operator? Someone who has certain administrative rights in a chatroom. They will need to be familiar with IRC and IRC commands. This will allow them to "ban" or "kick" people from a chatroom. E.g. by typing the command /kick #mc2_demo Guest, the ChanOP can kick "Guest" out of the mc² demo chatroom. If you wish to give certain members "ops" access, as Channel Operators [chanop]. You will need to Request ChanOP be set for your group. When advised that this is done, the authorised parties need to say "hello" to chan op and set their own password, by entering: /msg chanop hello . Then /msg chanop passwd [then_enter_your_password_here] . Then next time they log in /msg chanop hello . If they're on another host when they use the same nick and are advised that chanop does not recognise their host, enter /msg chanop ident [then_enter_your_password_here] . They then need to advise us of the nicknames they said hello with. We'll then add those nicknames as ops to the channel. N.B. the password you enter can be anything you wish, but must contain 4 - 8 characters.
