If this is the case, you may be using Wingate software to share Internet access across the machines. This situation can be corrected by making adjustments in your Wingate settings, as outlined below:

How To Reconfigure Wingate To Allow IRC To Run

• First open Gatekeeper which can be done by double clicking on the picture of the planet with a little computer screen infront of it in the bottom right hand corner of the screen near the clock.
• Note: To open the Gatekeeper program, you must know the administrator password.
  
  
• Once in Gatekeeper, click on the Services tab near the bottom. Then right click in the left window containing the list of services.
  
  
• Select New Service and then select TCP Mapping Service as displayed on the following window:
  
  
  
  
• Once you have selected TCP Mapping, you will be presented with the following window in which you need to fill in the following fields including:
  
  
• Service Name: This can be anything you want e.g. IRC
  
  
• Description Name: This can be anything you want e.g. IRC
  
  
• Connections To Service: This needs to be ticked and the port needs to be set to 6667
  
  
• Default Mapping: This also needs to be ticked with the Server set to maindrain.vicnet.net.au and the port set to 6667
  
  
  
  
• Next, click on the bindings tab and make sure that both network interface connections are bound and started.
  
  
  
  
• Once this is done all you need to do is click OK so your back in the main gatekeeper program and save the changes you've made by going to the file menu and clicking on save changes.
