Anyway, I am not from the Goulburn region (although I grew up there)I have recently moved to small acreage on the mornington peninsula and was very surprised to find what I believe to be dung beetles, merrily digging up the horse poo. I usually clean up the paddocks to prevent worm infestation in the horses but I have found some beetles in the droppings. one small oval shiny black beetle and one much larger one with horns. someone has suggested they may be cockchafers but I have no idea how to tell if this is so. I was hoping someone on the forum may have some info for me and also whether they are usually active in horse manure.
